Himalayas are a source of inspiration and challenge to the researchers, intellectuals and adventurers. The lofty mountains with snow-clad peaks and lush green forests fascinate one & all. They are honoured to be the abode of gods of Hindu pantheon. It was here the Vedic literature was created in its ravines, caves and highland settlements. The lofty epic of Mahabharata was created by the great seer Vyasa, in a cave of the greator Himalayas and it was popularly known as Vyas Gufa, situated near Mana, the last Indian village at Indo-Tibetan border. According to a tradition he dictated the great epic to Lord Ganesha that its echoes still vibrate in that cave. This has been confirmed by the researchers and travelers of eminance. It also happens to be the land of Panchjanya.who possessed great knowledge and wisdom.

Panchjanya were the great clans including devas, gandharvas, nagas, yakshas & kinners. They ruled Swarga - the upper lands of the great Himalayas, sub Himalayan ranges constituting the frontiers, the Kailash and Mansrovar ranges, the vast fertile land of Uttranchal just starting from Haridwar and reaching to the lofty mountains of Nar & Narayana and finally the Kinnar Kailash to present day Kangra area. The ranges right from Garhwal Himalayas to the Korakaram had early settlements of Aryans, where the Aryan culture presumably the world's best culture flourished.

The great seers and mystics like Angira, Atri, Agastya, Asita, Goutam, Jamdagni, Kashyap, Manu, Prashar, Parshuram, PulastyaShring, Vamdeva, Vyasa and scores of others meditated in the highlands of the Himalayas for the welfare of the mankind. The myths, legends and mythology of this region had assisted the scholars and the great thinkers to create some of the magnificent works of the classical literature. Every cliff of the ranges of the Himalayas is dedicated to the gods and goddesses of the heathen followed by Hindu pantheon.
